USTH the 6th university in Vietnam to meet HCERES's training institution accreditation standards

On October 26, 2023, USTH received official information that the University meets international accreditation standards for training institutions according to HCERES' standards. The inspection results will be valid for 5 years from 2023 to 2028. All criteria of USTH are highly appreciated by the Accreditation Council of HCERES, the Council also proposes strategic development directions in the coming time for the University to soon achieve the set goals. With this result, USTH has officially become the 6th university in Vietnam to meet HCERES's training institution accreditation standards. The above achievement marks an important milestone in the 14-year journey of USTH's establishment and development, which is the affirmation and guarantee of USTH's training and research quality with the international academic community.
Awarding HCERES certificate to USTH
HCERES is an official member of the European Higher Education Quality Assurance Association (ENQA) and uses the European Higher Education System (EHEA) Standards and Guidelines. In addition to French training and research institutions, HCERES also carries out international assessment and accreditation of foreign universities, French educational institutions abroad and international joint research units.
Prof. Acad. Chau Van Minh, President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), said that obtaining the accreditation certificate of training institutions from the international accreditation organization HCERES is significant for VAST as well as USTH. For USTH, this is an affirmation of solid progress in training quality, which is especially important for an international university. For VAST, this event has great significance because it promotes the close connection between research institutes and universities in scientific research with training in accordance with the guidelines of the Party and the State.
"We consider USTH to be a very unique model of higher education, established within the framework of the Intergovernmental Agreement between Vietnam and France," said Ms. Amélie Bensimon, representative of HCERES, at the accreditation ceremony on the afternoon of December 1. "We also highly appreciate that in a short time, USTH has made strong developments, rising to become an important university in the Vietnamese education system. In the current context, Vietnamese universities are having to exercise university autonomy, USTH has made great changes, continuously innovating to adapt to the above changes. By receiving the accreditation certificate from HCERES, USTH has reached a new milestone in realizing the University's development goals."

The evaluation report of HCERES is also important information for USTH to constantly improve management, training and research activities according to international standards, to bring the University to continue to develop dramatically, towards the goal of becoming an excellent university in science and technology training in Vietnam and in the region.

USTH is a public university established within the framework of the Intergovernmental Agreement between Vietnam and France with the goal of training high-quality human resources in the field of science and technology, meeting Vietnam's development in the 4.0 era and international integration. The school belongs to Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, and receives strong support from the Alliance of more than 30 prestigious French universities and research organizations in training and research. USTH is a pioneer university in Asia training according to the Bologna process, a model widely applied in more than 45 European countries. The process towards USTH certification: In November 2022, the HCERES delegation went to USTH for a preliminary survey and concluded that the University is eligible for accreditation, and guided the University to self-assess according to HCERES' set of standards and accreditation procedures. In March 2023, USTH has completed and submitted the internal assessment report in accordance with HCERES' plan. In May 2023, HCERES' audit team conducted a quality assessment at USTH. The delegation worked and independently interviewed the University Council, the Internal Governance Council, the Science and Training Council, the School Board, Representatives of Departments/ Faculties, Representatives of lecturers-researchers, Representatives of students, Alumni representatives, Representatives of domestic and international partners of the University, and Employer representatives to clarify the effectiveness of governance, quality of training, research, contribution and community influence of the university, the development ability of students, alumni, etc. In addition, the delegation of experts also directly visited the University's research and training facilities. On October 26, 2023, USTH received official information that the University meets international accreditation standards for training institutions according to HCERES' standards.
