4th Youth Science Conference of Earth Sciences Bloc in 2023

On December 8, 2023, the 4th Youth Science Conference of the Earth Sciences Bloc in 2023 took place under the coordination of the Youth Union of units under the Earth Sciences Bloc, including Institute Marine Geology and Geophysics, Institute of Geophysics, Institute of Marine Environment and Resources, Institute of Geography and Institute of Geological Sciences.

The event drew the participation of representatives of the Board of Directors and Scientific Council of units in the Earth Sciences Bloc; representatives of the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), and a large number of youth union members and young researchers from relevant units.

The conference is a regular youth science forum in the Earth Sciences Bloc, an opportunity for young officials to exchange information, introduce achievements, research results and science and technology activities; enhance opportunities for cooperation and scientific research; thereby, build a youth science forum in the Bloc. In 2023, the Conference Organizing Committee received 14 scientific articles from 48 authors from many domestic and foreign research units; selected 05 typical reports to present directly at the Conference, including:

• "Characteristics of modern sediments in the bed of Cua Dat hydropower reservoir according to high-resolution seismic data". (Nguyen Van Diep - Institute of Marine Geology and Geophysics).
• "Building the current landslide status by analyzing objects using remote sensing images in the Nam Pam - Muong La - Son La area". (MSc. Tran Trung Hieu - Institute of Geological Sciences).
• “Using seafloor seismic (OBS) data to study the lithospheric structure beneath Hawaii Plume”. (Dr. Le Ba Manh - Institute of Geophysics).
• “Potentials, challenges and solutions for developing ecotourism in Bach Long Vi island district, Hai Phong City”. (Bui Thi Minh Hien - Institute of Marine Environment and Resources).
• “Releasing arsenic from straw during decomposition”. (MSc. Dang Tran Quan - Institute of Geography).

The conference demonstrated the enthusiasm and scientific research spirit of youth union members in the Earth Sciences Bloc in particular and youth union members of the VAST in general.
